This Earth Day, we're riding towards a greener future.

At GFS Saddles, we’re not only committed to creating beautiful, high-quality products but also to protecting the planet we ride on. This Earth Day, we’re excited to share some of the ways that we’re weaving sustainable practises into every part of our saddle making process. Whether it’s reducing waste, reusing materials or innovating our energy use, we’re making a positive impact, one saddle at a time.
Firstly, let’s talk about leather. We’ve always been proud to say that our leather is of the highest quality, but beyond that, what sets it apart is how we use it. As manufacturers of not just saddles but also accessories, we’ve managed to reduce our waste output. Creating bridles, girths, reins and other leather accessories from the same raw material as our saddles allows us to put every inch of leather to good use. We’re doing our part to ensure that every piece of material has a purpose while simultaneously creating beautiful, durable products that will last for years to come.
When it comes to shipping, we’ve taken steps to make sure that our environmental footprint is as small as possible. Gone are the days of sending off products in plastic bags! Our saddles are now shipped in recycled fabric bags, reducing the amount of single-use plastic waste that ends up in landfills. It's a simple change, but one that makes a significant difference.
The green initiatives don’t stop with our saddles. Back at the office, we’ve made some energy-saving upgrades too. We’ve removed all of our old gas systems and replaced them with more energy-efficient infrared heating. Plus, our entire workspace is now lit with LED lights, which consume much less energy and have a longer lifespan. It’s all about reducing our carbon footprint whilst maintaining a comfortable working environment for the team. Plus, we’ve gone paperless with our trade portal, meaning no more printing endless invoices and orders. It’s a small step that goes a long way in reducing our carbon footprint.
Finally, we’re making a conscious effort to recycle and reuse our packaging materials. Instead of using new boxes every time, we make sure to repurpose and recycle where possible, ensuring that the boxes we use for shipping get a second life.
As we continue to grow, we’ll keep pushing for even more sustainable practices. Together, we can saddle up for a greener, cleaner future.
